North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival 2026 on Main Street

North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival 2026

If you’re planning a March beach trip, one of the biggest weekends on the Grand Strand is the North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival. The 2026 event takes place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach. The parade starts at 9:00 AM, and the festival runs from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Admission and parking are free, making this one of the best family-friendly spring events in the area.

2026 Event Details

The City of North Myrtle Beach hosts the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival on Main Street. This is a rain-or-shine event unless unsafe weather conditions are forecast. Visitors can expect a full day of parade entries, live entertainment, food vendors, arts and crafts, and family-friendly festival fun.

What Time Does the Parade Start?

The parade begins promptly at 9:00 AM. According to the city, the route starts on Ocean Boulevard at 2nd Avenue North, heads south to 1st Avenue South, turns right onto 1st Avenue South, then right onto Hillside Drive, then left onto Main Street, and continues to Ye Olde Kings Highway. If you want a good viewing spot, plan to arrive early and be set up by around 8:30 AM.

What to Expect at the Festival

After the parade, the festival takes over Main Street from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. In 2026, visitors can expect:

Parking and Shuttle Information

Parking is free for the event. The city also lists a free shuttle from Ocean Drive Elementary School running from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Additional free event parking is listed at the corner of 2nd Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard, the corner of 1st Avenue South and Ocean Boulevard, and McLean Park. Because Main Street and parts of Ocean Boulevard close for the parade and festival, arriving early is the smart move.

Can’t Make It in Person?

WPDE personalities Ed Piotrowski, Connor Ingalls, and Jennifer Abney are scheduled to announce the parade from the Community Stage, and the parade will also be broadcast live on CW21.

Family-friendly beach scene in North Myrtle Beach

North Myrtle Beach is built for low-stress family vacations: wide beaches, easy-to-navigate neighborhoods, and plenty of “everyone wins” activities. If you want the most laid-back stretch of sand, start at Cherry Grove Beach—the classic north end with a relaxed vibe, room to spread out, and iconic views from the pier.

5 Reasons North Myrtle Beach Is a Great Fit for Your Family

  1. Nine miles of beach — with space to breathe. You get that classic coastal feel without feeling packed in.
  2. Cherry Grove Beach is the family favorite. The north end is known for a calmer, more local vibe—and the pier is a must-do.
  3. Easy entertainment without over-planning. You can do a “one-stop” afternoon at Barefoot Landing (food, fun, and shopping) and call it a win.
  4. Condos that actually work for families. Full kitchens, multiple bedrooms, and pools make it easier—and often cheaper—than hotels.
  5. Real variety: beach days, nature walks, parks, and quick outings. When kids need a break from the sand, you’ve got simple backups that don’t blow the budget.

Visit Our Beach

Our beaches are the heart of North Myrtle Beach’s charm. Stretching across nine miles, these wide, sandy shores give families plenty of room for sandcastles, kite flying, boogie boarding, and long walks at sunset.

Cherry Grove Beach: the laid-back north end

If you’re choosing one area to “anchor” your trip, make it Cherry Grove Beach. It’s a favorite for families who want a relaxed pace, easy beach days, and classic coastal scenery. Don’t miss the Cherry Grove Pier for ocean views and a fun “walk out over the water” moment that kids remember.

Beyond the sand, North Myrtle Beach has easy, family-friendly attractions that don’t require a full-day commitment:

Stay in North Myrtle Beach

For families, condos and villa-style stays are often the sweet spot—more space, a full kitchen for quick meals, and pool access when you want a break from the sand. If you’re targeting the north end, Beachmaster (Cherry Grove) is a solid home base, and Ocean View Villas (The Point at Cherry Grove) puts you right near that classic Cherry Grove vibe. Prefer a slightly more central feel? Palmwood Villas (Crescent Beach) is a great option for easy beach time and quick access to the rest of North Myrtle Beach.

Traveling with a dog? Don’t overlook Blue Mist Villas—it’s a rare pet-friendly, on-the-beach gem that a lot of visitors miss. (As always, pet rules and fees can vary by unit, so confirm before booking.)

Tip: For peak summer weeks—especially Cherry Grove oceanfront—book early to get the best selection of dates, views, and pool access.

North Myrtle Beach is also full of budget-friendly activities that deliver big on fun:

Restaurants and Dining

Dining here is another family-friendly win. If you want more ideas, start here: North Myrtle Beach restaurants.

North Myrtle Beach makes family trips easier: uncrowded stretches of sand, simple attractions, and accommodations designed for real-life families—not just couples’ weekends.

Carolina Beach Music—and the Official State Dance of South Carolina, the Carolina Shag—is huge in North Myrtle Beach, and SOS is a major reason why. Every year, the Society of Stranders makes the pilgrimage back to Ocean Drive for SOS Spring Safari, SOS Fall Migration, and SOS Midwinter Break. Most of the excitement centers on Main Street in Ocean Drive, where nearly every lounge and hotspot joins in with live bands, DJ sets, themed nights, and nonstop dancing. The SOS clubs host signature parties, and the whole area stays electric—shaggers on the sidewalks, music rolling out of doorways, and the beach buzzing with dancers from sunup to last call.

LIVE Music and Carolina Shag Dance at the Clubs

You’ll usually find the best beach music bands rocking the daytime scene at Fat Harold’s Beach Club, with the energy shifting into high gear after dark at the  Spanish Galleon. Keep an eye out for special shows and event nights at Deckerz Bar & Grill, and don’t overlook other Main Street favorites that help keep the dance floor packed—Ducks Beach Club, Pirate’s Cove, and HOTO’s (Harold’s on the Ocean) all get in on the action with bands, DJs, and themed parties during SOS weeks.

If you want a break from the dance floor but still want to stay in the mix, there are plenty of fun stops nearby—hit OD Arcade for classic games and a quick reset before heading back out, or bounce between venues as the night builds. The best part: during SOS, you don’t have to “find” the party—just follow the music and you’ll end up exactly where you’re supposed to be.

SOS Accommodations from Grand Strand Vacations

If you want to be close to the action but prefer a more relaxed place to recharge, we suggest a beach house just minutes down the road in Cherry Grove. You’ll be close enough to enjoy Main Street whenever you want, while still having space to unwind between days of dancing, live music, and late nights.

Let us help you find a great place to stay during SOS Fall this year. Call us at 843-249-3433 and ask about our SOS specials.

Why It’s Kid-Friendly:
Hawaiian Rumble is a world-renowned, 18-hole mini golf course that immerses families in a lush Hawaiian paradise. Kids will be thrilled by the 40-foot volcano that erupts with sound and steam every 20 minutes. Tropical landscaping, waterfalls, and soothing Hawaiian music keep the atmosphere engaging yet relaxing. The course is challenging enough for older kids and adults but accessible for younger players, making it a family favorite. On-site batting cages, a picnic area, a Subway, and an ice cream shop provide extra fun. Hawaiian Rumble also hosts the U.S. Pro Mini Golf Masters, which adds a cool factor for kids.

2. Aloha Mini Golf

900 Lake Arrowhead Rd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572

Why It’s Kid-Friendly:

Do you take your family on vacation during July 4th to North Myrtle Beach? For the majority of the merchants in NMB, this week is likely the biggest one yet. Some businesses around the US take that week off and require their staff to take a vacation during that time. The summer prime season is currently in full swing. That week, there is a lot of demand for fantastic beach vacation homes. Since July 4th in 2026 falls on a Saturday, you would need to start your vacation week on Saturday, July 4th, if you wanted to attend the fireworks in NMB. Many families have already reserved that week for their vacation, as far as we know. Call us right away if you’re still considering going to the beach for the Fourth of July.  The best homes and condos may already be taken that week.

Fireworks in Cherry Grove

Each year, fireworks are set off from the Cherry Grove Pier. Oceanfront homes and resort condos in Cherry Grove put you right in front of the action. You can expect the show to begin around 9:30 pm and go on for about 30 minutes. If you are playing in the sand and water that day, be ready to stay for one of the best fireworks shows in the Grand Strand. If you are staying with us, please share some pictures with us on our Grand Strand Vacations facebook page or send them to us via email. Updates are usually posted on the City of North Myrtle Beach Website

It is important that you are aware that the use of personal fireworks within the city limits of North Myrtle Beach is against the law. We ask that you stay safe and enjoy the free show that is being put on by the city at the Cherry Grove Pier.

Salute from the Shore

The Salute from the Shore is an event that takes place on July 4th and is one of the highlights of the day. People visiting the state as well as those who live there assemble on the sand each year at the same time to watch airplanes fly over the coast of South Carolina. If you are staying in the Cherry Grove area, you should make it a point to be in the vicinity of the beach no later than one in the afternoon. Everyone probably has an opinion about who has the Best Burger North Myrtle Beach. Take a look at these options and tell us what you think. Do you have a favorite place in North Myrtle Beach for burgers?

Fast Food in NMB

We know there are a lot of fans of the fast food variety. If you are looking for the chains, you will find McDonald’s and Wendy’s in Ocean Drive. Hardees used to be located on 17, but has recently closed their doors. If you are looking for Burger King, you will need to drive up to Little River just across the big bridge. Other chains available include  Five Guys and Logan’s Roadhouse. One of our favorite chains is Cook Out.  The Cook Out cheeseburger tray with Fries and a Corn Dog and a Big Drink is fast and pretty cheap. Their milkshakes are the bomb!

Local Favorite Burger Joints

There are a lot of great places to eat in North Myrtle Beach. Many come to the beach and ask where the locals go for good burgers. We have selected a few local businesses that we think are worth trying out. We would love to know what your thoughts are on these or other burger joints you have tried in NMB.

  1. Fried FlounderHoskins Restaurant (Main Street).

  2. CheeseburgerShag City Grill (inside Fat Harold’s, Main Street).
If you visit NMB, you’ve probably been to Fat Harold’s. Eating at Shag City Grill was always on my list before I moved
to the beach full-time—ready to get back to the home of the Shag.
  3. Chicken Tenders + Tavern SaladHickory Tavern (Coastal North Town Center).
One of our favorite lunch spots. We love the Tavern Salad with house dressing, and the chicken tenders are some of the best at the beach.
